This discussion remids me of an article I once read, many, many years ago, about Burt Rutan, the intrepid aircraft designer, about simple concepts. He had probably the most brilliant and innovative aircraft designs ever, and could explain them quickly and simply. At one point, I remember him saying that anything that took hours on a Cray to work out, probably wasn't meant to be.
There's also a philosophy - I forget the name, but something like "Achmed's knife", that goes something like: "The simplest explanation is usually the correct one". So, if there isn't a simple explanation, it's probably "B.S."......
