My grandpa has a late '60's beetle. It is a fun little car to drive around, does amazingly well on bumpy minimum maintenance roads and such. I think he bought it new, and has done very little to it over the years outside of constant maintenance to keep it on the road. I wouldn't mind having one myself just for the fun factor. I've never driven through a full tank, but he claims mid 30's in mixed driving.
