I'd vote '88 CRX HF with a D15Z1

Better MPG than a VX,with more storage space.

But in all reality it's a toss-up,I would probably have to go with the VX as they're starting to bring a premium now and they're just so simple.Battery's tend to get expensive and motor rebuilds are down right affordable and simple if done yourself and have experience.
