Thanks! The original plan was to fill-up in Barstow. (What was I thinking?) When I got there, I decided not to waste the time (and extra fuel) to fill-up when I had enough fuel left to make it to my destination.

I love the look on people's faces when I tell them that I normally get 30's and 31's commuting to work in the warmer months. It's something like

One of my co-workers bought an '06 Focus (2.3L manual) about 6 months before I bought my "pony". He told me he can get 29 MPG on a good day. I must be doing something wrong.
