I would disagree with getting the 4 cylinder. To get all the safety stuff you have to basically get the lx9 3.5L. The final drive ratio on the ecotec is shorter too so not as great on the road.

My summary would be sleeper. It also doesn't draw any attention which is cool.
Wow, another old thread revived.

Several years ago I rent an '06 Malibu Máx and averaged over 33 mpg during a 1600 mile trip including many miles through the hilly Ozarks.
