That is one of the few solar cars I have seen that was almost practical and I certainly like that they are approaching real-life speeds, although most people around here drive eighty on the freeway. However, for their speed test, they are going electric-only, so it is much more of an electric car than a solar one--310-mile range on batteries, 500 on both.

Could you even have a solar car competition without battery packs? Just a small starter battery?
