My New Eco-Ride

I love my '90 Civic CX. I am a sucker for any older Honda, and I have a list of ones I need to own that I haven't yet. Like a Honda Beat. Or an S2000. And as much as I love my CX, it is kind of a bucket. Original paint, kinda beat up, big hole where the lower part of the dash/stereo used to be etc. I have kept it around for years, and don't plan to get rid of it. BUT, I do have to cross the border a lot. I guess the car just doesn't go with the way I look. I get searched. A lot, going in either direction. Which isn't a problem as there's nothing to find, but man it takes like an hour to cross rather than 5 minutes.

My buddy in the USA kept telling me "It's your car, I'd search you too in that thing!" I didn't want to believe him. But I picked up an old 4Runner that looked half decent, and voila, haven't had a problem since. So that got me on the hunt for an eco-ride that doesn't look like I just bought it to smuggle stuff across the border, which the CX apparently does! I have always wanted a clean Del Sol, preferably in black. And today....

It's a '97 with 212k KMs, 131k miles, 5 speed. The throw out bearing is really noisy which is probably why the guy traded it in. But that don't scare me ha ha. I need to spend a day or two on the paint, lots of scuffs etc but nothing drastic. Black just takes a lot of time to make nice. I like the factory alloys, but I do have a set of VX rims kicking around, so I am thinking those should probably go on it. And a '97 would be OBD2 wouldn't it? So I could just plug it into a Scangauge? Hopefully the border guards like it as much as I do!
