Anyone who has ever read a newspaper knows that such things as indictment and/or bail are a matter of public record. Such aspects are not a private matter and can easily be discovered by those who want to know. I can understand his not wanting to admit them, but that might be owing to embarrassment, not due to legal vulnerability. But it also begs the question of why one confesses to a website that he was arrested but does not say for what reason. Is this relevant to anything automotive? Or is it just seeking a shoulder to cry upon?

Your line of questioning is not friendly to his interests. He's on this social site, I imagine, looking for a little moral support, not free legal advice, which he can get elsewhere without exposing himself to the off chance of further headaches.
The moral support (AKA sympathy) he seeks may make you feel good for providing it, and make him feel good for receiving it. Unfortunately it doesn't change or improve his situation.
