We've finally gotten the KRFE here... not impressed. I like Mitsubishi's 1.2 better... and Suzuki's K10 offers much the same with better sound.
Also, 55 hp is peak horsepower, which doesn't matte rmuch. You will almost never get to the 6,000 rpm peak on a KR unless you're caning the ever-living daylights out of it... While an Aygo with the KR doesn't hit 60 mph in 10 seconds, this thing is supposed to do it in 10 seconds, and it's light enough that this is possible... so there's less reason to cane the motor.

I agree with everything else, though... the KRFE or K10 or any of a number of engines would serve here just as well. Any optimization would, in the end, probably shave just a few MPG off the top-end. Engine reprogramming and custom manifolds and/or cam grinds on a regular production motor would most likely achieve the same effect.
