You can't disconnect the wire from the Ultragauge, but you can easily disconnect the Ultragauge from the port, with the wire still attached. It would be nice to not have to remove the wire from the car, but I just remove the Ultragauge anyway, with the wire still attached. For me, this means unwrapping the wire from the steering column, which only takes a few seconds anyway, and being careful where I'm keeping it. I should put the wire in a bundle, and then the process will be easier.
