something not right with that chart, perhaps the subaru was a manual and the guy didn't hit top gear until 45 mph. for my subaru which is pretty much identical to the '93 model albeit now more heavier, 34 mph is the most efficient speed. 30 mph could be more efficient but the torque converter has a tendency of unlocking that slow over slight throttle changes and ruining everything. so 35-40mph nets me 40+ MPG.
