Talk about stress relief...

Two days ago I met with a reporter from La Presse, a 200 000+ copies broadsheet newspaper in Montreal. We talked about hypermiling and we went for a drive in my elantra to see what could be done to reduce fuel consumption. I let the reporter drive first on the 10km course (8km city, 2km highway) I had set up and he managed 8.1 L/100 km. I get in the car, did mild p&g with some eoc and pulled 6 L/100 km.

Today, hypermiling makes the front page of La Presse. I don't know what's in the paper yet as I am currently in Boston for some training till tomorrow. I however found a piece on the Internet relating our test drive (note:it's in french) which I read this morning before leaving for my training.

In the article they mention that eoc is potentially illegal according to article 327 of Quebec's road security code.

I come back to my room for lunch and I find out that someone from the ministry of justice of Quebec left me a message. Just a name and a phone number without explanation. I call back, but since it's lunch time, obviously no one answers.

After a long and very stressful hour, I get on the phone with the lady that left me the message. Turns out she was offering me a job, but it had absolutely nothing to do with the article. I had my name in a candidate bank for job offerings a while ago, but decided not to change job so I wasn't thinking about it anymore.

In retrospect, it's funny how some totally unrelated events can somehow appear to be in a direct cause-effect relationship when the timing is just right.
