That's exactly right. Most new cars have the feature. It's there on my 1996 Honda, and all newer Hondas. One exception I know of is Hyundai - the Elantra as new as 2002 didn't have it.

Mine will fuel-cut in gear down to 1200 rpm, and then it starts feeding fuel again. You can feel a slight "surge" when that happens. You can downshift to put the rpm back above the mark and maintain fuel-cut. This works on automatics, too.
