Yeah..
Oil prices going up, gas prices going up.
War in <far away>, gas prices going up.
Oil prices going down? Gas prices still going up, magic!
Winter is comming? Gas prices going up.
Oil companies are "not doing well" (making record profits all the same), gas prices going up.
Oil at a historic low? Sorry, gas prices stay the same "because we're selling what we have in stock to the price point we paid for it back then" (But increasing the price the instant oil prices go up is totally normal, see record profits..)

When regular fuel here got to $10.80-11/gallon about 2.5 years ago, I sold my 30 MPG GTI to get a Diesel, even though it 'only' does 45 MPG with my driving style*, its worth it, I saved about $1.5k a year in driving expenses since then. Prices did go down eventually, but they're still well above what they were when I bought my first car 4 years ago..

And the low oil prices are finally starting to lower the gas prices by a few cents, diesel is now down to $6.05/gallon. I wonder how low it'll bottom out before the next random price raise sets in.

Hamstering fuel is too much of a hassle and not worth the expense of storage, so I won't bother with that.

I might start runnig on supermarket SVO when I get my engine modded to accept it, even though thats technically tax evasion..
Gotta think of a clever way to get around that, perhaps keeping the receits of a legal SVO fuel station in the door pocket (and going there once in a few months for more credibility), if the cops/customs ever inspect the tank, its totally normal that they find SVO.

*factory claim is 60 mpg @ 90 kmh steady state. (No EPA numbers or nothing.) Its probably 1/3 my driving style (fast), 1/3 mods (bigger brakes, wider, grippier tires for safety), and 1/3 the engine being a bit out of tune (I think a little pump advance would do it good, but I never get around to it..)
