Have you ever been an inadvertent ecomodder?

A couple of years ago I was sitting in a restaurant watching the snow falling on my car just across from where I was sitting. I noticed that the snow was melting around the edges of the hood and around the headlights, but not at the back of the hood. I assumed this was due to the seal at the back edge of the hood. So I ran some cheap foam tape around the other areas, thinking it could help conserve the engine temp while running errands and such.
Fast forward a few months, and for whatever reason I wanted to check what the temperature outside was. Displaying my intake air temp on the scangauge, while driving on the highway or interstate, had previously been just as good as having an outside thermometer. At first I was confused by the readings, but after watching for a couple more days, I realized what I'd done. I accidentally had given myself a mild warm air intake, worth about +25f on my intake temps.
