On my petrol cars the injectors cut out if you're off the throttle and above about 1500rpm
Therefore no fuel is used.
On this engine, the fuel pump is driven from the engine, so if the engine is pumping it still moves fuel. On the last one i had-best results were achieved by using neutral and idle rather than in gear decel up to junctions
