There's a variable version of this that's popular in the Fit community. You can adjust it with a knob. It basically changes how sensitive the pedal is, related to the actual throttle valve. You can turn it up so a tiny blip will squeal the tires, or turn it down and you have a long press to get anything moving. Doesn't change the engine at all, just the link between your foot and the engine.
