Indeed. Apparently, though, it was a fox and not a deer.
My old boss from my last retail job had a pretty bad run-in with a deer. The car in front of him hit the deer, which flew over that car, and went through his windshield at ~60 MPH. He doing pretty well after all the facial reconstruction surgery. Deer happen and there's not much you can do about it.
My aunt, on the other hand, lives in NE PA and has had a multitude of run-ins with deer. Almost all were at 35 or under with only minor damage to the car (and deer) body.
But anyway, yeah. Slow down to save fuel, learn to handle your car in an emergency, and get bullet proof windows.
