I had friends that commuted in a 6.2l 6speed Corvette till they had a kid. They regularly got 32mpg.
Not sure why you wouldn't do some aero mods. A lot of them are cheap not all that noticeable but can go a long to helping your mpg. Skirts, dams, belly pans don't look bad if done right and making it more slippery is like adding hp.
