I got around to wiring up my shift knob and installing it last night. The fit is very nice (IMO), and the button placement is good. I still need to paint the EM emblem on it.

Unfortunately, the switches that I thought were normally closed were not actually normally closed... So, I had to hold the button to start and run the car, and as soon as I let go it dies. That won't work. So, I need to find another switch that is actually NC, or put a NC relay in which is probably more likely. The relay is also a better failure mode device as it is more likely to fail in a way that still allows the engine to run.
