New Volt driver

Greetings from Midland Michigan and -15F wind chills...can't stay warm and neither can my "new" Volt!

I've been driving a 2010 Jetta TDI 6spd manual on snow tires netting 44mpg avg, on LLR summers netting 55 avg, record tank 62.3mpg. Hat tip to my brother Weather Spotter and his AeroTrix for teaching me the Hypermilling ways. I've had the TDI for 15 months and 33k miles and am getting rid of it do to intermitent electrical issues. Just traded it in on a 2012 Volt.. excited for electric driving, and weirded out not having a manual trans

My normal commute is 21.2 miles each way to work 5-6 days a week. I can trickle charge at work, but I live in an appartment complex with no outlets... so my goal is to run all electric except when the volt wastes fuel to warm the ICE. My first trip home last night was on a partial charge with range estimating 28 miles... made it 39.0 in sub zero degree wind chills.

Here's to running electric,
Matt
