Last time I was on HPTuners website I thought i saw that they were looking to expand the supported car list. I think it said something about free credits to tune the car if you scan it and send it in to them so they can do the work so you can tune it. 96 should be OBDII so you at least have plug and play instruments available like a scangauge or ultragauge. If you already have HPTuners I think tuning could be a fun project, but I'm not sure it's going to save you $500 to pay for the purchase of the program...
