This is completely wrong information. See "Old Mechanic" explanation for accurate information.
OP, if you're hell bent on trying a temporary EGR delete and your valve has a single vacuum line on it just unplug that line and cork it off on the engine side.
That essentially leaves the EGR valve closed which basically is your delete.
The only engines I can think of that can benefit from a true EGR delete is diesel engines. EGR has no business on a diesel.
