I have it from top to bottom on my xB for sound suppression, I know they make a type for engine bays but its function is vibration control not cooling.

Interior noise comes primarily from the wheel wells and the windows. It will help some, but it is heavy, my B has three rolls of the stuff in it each roll weighed 80lbs. The difference shows up in the sound quality, not the ride quality.

So I wouldn't swear by its cooling or quieting properties, but it works exceptionally well in absorbing sound and stereo vibrations.
