At 1:18 in the video ( the top view ) you can clearly see that the car is designed in reverse.
The bulbous end of the tear drop is at the trunk/boot end of the car.

I think it is probably low drag. With the pontoon fender body (small cross-section) and four-wheel skirts, why not? That Deutsch-Bonnet is a low-drag body, right?
The reverse teardrop is the result of 1930s drivetrain packaging (there's not a lot of room inside that body, for it's bulk). As long as the back isn't too 'fast', where's the problem?
This retro styling
has made a comeback: at this, the level of build quality it takes to compete for the Ridler or AMBR trophies.
