With crap welds you risk the same life in prison and being sued for millions if you man slaughter some one with a vehicle. Last time I checked about 30,000 people a year are killed in vehicle crashes and any where from 5 to 30 are killed per year by all gas cylinder accidents in some way.
For a decent weld, I would risk it.
CO2 cylinders have burst discs so they cant explode in a fire.
There is no way to knock the valve stem off 2lb bottle unless you throw it out at least a 3 story window.
