That is a misquote from a Frenchman of all people...
Hitler didn't execute a lot of the people he personally removed (Generals etc.), he just sacked them which meant they lost their living and status of course.
A lot of lower ranks were executed, sometimes for the most bizzare reasons, during the early part of the war. The account by Rudolf Hoess (the commandant of Auschwitz) details the first execution in his book.
I recommend Hoess' book only because the world needs to know what he did and thought, and so similar thoughts can be identified and opposed. Proceeds of sales go to charities too.
