Not a corolla, but my car calls for 9006 bulbs as well. Im running Phillips 9012 bulbs

They require a small modification to fit
In addition to refinishing the lenses and bulb upgrade, I found that there was a significant voltage drop at the headlights. my car ran the ground through the headlight switch. by adding relays I gained around 1 volt at the bulbs. That seemed to help about as much as the bulbs did again, that cost less in parts, but was more labor intensive. If your car had headlight relays from the factory, i don't think I'd bother checking voltage drops
