If there were a grill (something like a venetian blind) covering the screen it could be arranged so that a following driver could not see the screen if they were driving too close. This would both encourage following drivers to keep a safe distance and avoid distracting drivers who did get too close. To use the screens to aid overtaking you would have to start your overtaking from further back than many people do currently, which is probably also a good safety measure. So a minor tweak could add an extra level of safety beyond the ability to see in front of the truck.
