The rattling concerns me. I helped my mother-in-law shop for a new car and we both spent a lot of time on Consumer Reports. The 86/BRZ/FR-S has a below average reliability rating. I kinda figured it was because it's a sports car and people will drive it hard and hence premature wear, but if that's not the case, I would be much less inclined to buy one.
I've only been to the bay area once about ten years ago. My cousin had a motorcycle and made it sound like it was the only way he could ever find parking there. I do not envy you.
