I have commuted through rural country for a number of years and seeing deer and other wildlife often. They respond best to sound so I use the horn anywhere I suspect they might be lurking. Loud pipes don't give as much indication of speed or direction. Wild boar are a real problem in southern states and hunting is unrestricted. Caution, in NYS only state game personnel may eradicate boars.
