It's a 'one elderly owner' car, FSH. It has some paint chips from a walking frame/ cain on the driver's door as testiment. It was traded for a new Prius. Other than those chips, it's as mint as you can expect for what is still a 10 year old car, looks like it was always garaged.
I've never understood people who get conned by a wound back odometer. I mean if you see a car with 80K miles on it that looks like it's done 160K miles, you should have the common sense to question that. If the odo's been wound back 20K miles, you won't be able to tell, but I wouldn't necessarily care anyway. The overall condition of a car is far more important than the actual mileage. A low mile car can be neglected, just as much as a high mile car can be cared for an reliable. Even by the standards of a 55K mile car, this car is above average.
If you don't commute daily or you have more than one car, you won't cover a lot of miles and I don't personally find 5500 miles a year to be all that low.
Here's a summary of some of the cars in my collection:
2005 Jeep Wrangler (mine from new) - 16K miles in 10 years!
1989 Nissan Skyline (mine for ten years) - 46K miles in 25 years
1994 Suzuki Swift (my dad's from new) - 46K miles in 21 years!
2014 Fiat 500 (mine from new) - 5K in 3 years
None of them ever did regular commuter duty. I drive about 11K miles a year, 90% of that is on my Renault.
