I had the same problem with my UG, no combination of settings would get it to work correctly under EOC, which is why I recommend SGII (with EOC friendly Hybrid mode). I have the opposite problem though, in that I've managed to make UG stay on (recording distance), but it takes a few seconds after restart before it registers MPG again, so if I do only short pulses, I can drive forever on 999 MPG!
