Ecomod for old vehicles

Hi all!

I own a 1990 Audi 100, imported from Germany (to where I am living, Spain). Even before I've got my driving licence I've been interested in fuel economy and doing an effort to squeeze every gallon of gasoline I buy to get maximum mileage.

I've been looking at some eco mods such as ScanGauge, but those must be put in vehicles built in, at least, 1994. Obviously that mod won't run on my car (which used to be my father's car).

So my question is: Is there any cheap, easy to install eco mod around there? Up to this point I've been measuring my gas mileage by pure logic & sense on short trips (looking at how much has the fuel hand moved xD). I've got 42,7 MPG in a short trip of 108 km, which I think is pretty good having in mind that the engine displacement is of 2.3 liters with 133 HP.

Now, what I really want to know is how much fuel I am using in certain situations (climbing cliffs on 3th, 4th or even 5th engine). And ofcourse I want an exact way to measure my mileage!

Thank you very much for your attention!
