Any sane person would be looking for an off-lease Leaf or Volt, they are in that price range—two years into an expected 7-8 years battery life.

But I have an additional agenda, which is to pit crew at Bonneville Salt Flats in the next 1-3 years. I started out wanting to enter the 36hp Challenge, which is open to 36hp VW engines. But I figure it would be less work (always important to me) to use an SRK as a base for a full envelope teardrop body. The one aerohead would help me test in the Darko wind tunnel next September.

Also magnetic drive. I'm not interested in another gas engine. Electricity is 5¢/kilowatt-hour here.
