Most of the new vehicles DO have a ram air action, helps with the MPG's at speed.
Granted, majority of cars are still aspirated motors, yours may not. TDI ?
Leave equal size breathing space as the air intake space for the radiator cool air entrance.
You being in the cold temperatures could adjust tighter +/_
