I wonder though, the engine takes up a lot of space. Does it even have a seat, or a steering wheel? It should, but how?

Messers were tandem two seaters. The engine block occupies the stretch (and is wider than the body). The transmission would intrude into the front seat, but the driver position could be moved to the rear, a popular move with drag racers.
Drag link on the right, possibly a imported front axle? Or an export Hemi. It looks like it was in the Midwest in the 50s.
