I dunno... I think he has a good point in that English units are often a lot handier to use for everyday things than metric. A mile? Well, that's a thousand paces (straight from the Romans), so anyone who can keep count can figure out how far they've walked. A cup is a handy size for something to drink out of, dividing things by halves is easier than tenths, sixes and dozens pack much nicer than fives and tens...
