If the block is done flush with the body,you've bought some distance from the radiator face which can be turned into an airtight,diverging duct,as Chrysler did with their Daytona Charger.
It's this ducting which allows the opening to be only 1/6th the radiator height if it's depth is equal to the radiator height.
