Guess its my turn. Glad to see a site with interest towards fuel efficiency; been bipping in & out for a number of years.
I had a Saab years ago- it was way ahead of its time. Saab published a monthly publication- I recall one article promoting higher fuel econcomy by the 1-3-5 shift. By double shifting to third and fifth, and lugging the engine with heavy throttle, higher efficiency driving would evoke better mileage.
I undersstand and agree. You can disagree if you want, but I'm sure those Swedish engineers from 3 decades ago won't care in the least. Others may read this and learn.
