I got some time today, and the weather and planets' positions were just right, so I finally installed the thermostatic WAI:
As you can see, it just barely fits between the radiator and the exhaust manifold. Two things still need to be done:
- I had to cut the angle off the HAI lead, so it is just a stub over the exhaust manifold. I'll have to concoct a downward-facing funnel to better collect the hot air.
- The slinky tubing on right end of the t-stat is actually a suspension boot/protector from an old Citroen. I was not able to secure it, so it's just holding on by itself. Time will show if this is enough to withstand vibrations.
So far I haven't had a chance to drive Theo, I only started the engine to check whether vibrations may be a problem.
