After I got hit by a car I also felt OK, only the bike was damaged. Since I was willing to take at least 50% of the blame I told the driver (who was so scared he must have peed his pants) that we can just go our ways. Once the adrenaline calmed down I started feeling the sprained wrist and bruised elbow. Later I was told by a fellow biker that we should have exchanged contact details, even if at first glance we were OK, and taken contacts to any witnesses.

That is a must!! If your bike did not have lights or even reflectors, then after dusk you should be walking it, not riding.
