There were a few things to look out for that just involved swapping cables (sin+ and sin-, cos+ and cos-. I think I had it cos- and cos+), and also a few settings so that the index pulse happens when QEA is high. With my regular encoder, I could do "index pulse must happen when QEA is low" in the configuration at the start of the program. But with this, index very rarely registered with that setting, so I had to do index pulse happens when QEA is high, and then it was totally glitchless. So, if it acts a little weird at first, just know that some such thing could be lurking in the shadows, but they aren't serious.
