I once took a road trip up Highway 99 in a clean little white Metro loaner, and got my personal best gas mileage [kilometerage?]
ever! It had this green light on the dashboard that had you lug it up through the gears.
But I still prefer the pew-pew-pew sound of a rev-happy 36hp VW with the pea-shooter exhaust.
