Guys like us can appreciate the idea. Unfortunately, the general public will always want something "bigger" and "better".
Which is why the three-wheeler market is dying out in China, and why a lot of local dealerships... despite the fact that the average daily wage here is much lower than in the US... are phasing out their cheapest econo-car models here in favor of selling fully loaded automatic transmission variants.
I really do like the idea of the Elio, but I worry that there won't be enough* of a market to make it a workable reality.
*enough meaning 100k per year unit sales.
