Reliable infrastructure will probably never solve the problem of running a 300-mile detour to get around a closure on the North Cascades Highway (for example). Sure, I might be able to stop for recharging somewhere along the way with the right infrastructure - but it's going to set my schedule back significantly considering the detour alone could already be adding 8 hours to my return home without the added delay.

In contrast, I can drive my TDi 700 miles from a full tank if I have to WITHOUT having to stop and wait and I just don't see the electric solution for that challenge in the immediate future.
