J Reeves pulls a whoop but 30 psi on a 2.2 motor and reworked 2 valve head....his main competition in heads up Shelby/Dodge Nat'l evens is Ohio Rob who has ran in the 10.6 range at 140+ in a street driven 87 Selby Charger also pulling 30 psi, but a bit finniky....He has a more modern 2.4 motor with a 4 valve head, but do not know his FE. The fastest turbo cars use stock converters that are beefed up and gear ratios in the 2.87 range....the build boost at the line and with stock boost and FE gearing the engine stays in boost all the way down the track. Both those guys are turning @ 8000 rpm at the finish line, but shift at 7000.
My SRT4 used to spike at 16-17 psi and stay at 13-14, but now it spikes up to 22 and holds at 18. A AGP will be used in the future to get the boost to 23 or more and stay there! I hit 4th gear at about the 1000' mark and do not look at the tach after that point since I am checking out the location of the other guy.....bracket racing! My rev limiter is 6400, but my quickest times are shifting at 6000.
Last year at the Sport compact Nat'ls (RIP) I qualified 9th with my 41-46 mpg 98 SOHC Neon in the quick 16 class running a best of 12.17 at 117 mph....I got runner up in bracket 1 with the 84 Horizon. At that event was the first fwd car to run over 200 mph in the 1/4...limited to a 3.0 ltr motor....and the first time in history that two cars ran a side by side sub 7 second run at over 200 mph....rwd with 3.0 limit on motor!
