Without a working hybrid battery, the 12v system will not charge. I believe you can get a refurbished battery for around $500. Or, you can bypass the hybrid system, which will re-enable the 12v DC-DC converter, but you'll still have the CEL. Someone over on InsightCentral might have a way to spoof the signal to the ECU, and make the CEL go off, allowing you to drive it like a conventional gas car with a super efficient alternator.
