I get a similar experience in the mountains. Different elevations experience the seasons at different times. In the valley, cherry trees and daffodils blossom in March. A month later, there are blooms at 1,000 ft. In May, flowers appear at 1,500 ft. It might be as late as August before you see Indian Paintbrush blossoms above 6,000 ft.
