Cool truck. I have a 71 d100 with a 318, close ratio truck 4 speed (np445), and 2.76 gears. With the stock bed, it did 16 and change on the interstate going 70+ from Sac to Idaho. I have since installed a flatbed after someone creamed the side of the stock on when parked on the street. I have been wanting to build an rudimentary aerocap for it for quite a while. The bed is exactly cab width and would be easy to skirt. Seeing this truck really rekindles my thoughts about this. I absolutely love the 71, it's my favorite truck of all that I've had. It isn't terribly powerful, but it's got good top speed and is a hoot to bomb around in.
